What Is Sidecar?
Sidecar is a feature introduced by Apple that allows users to extend their Mac’s display by using an iPad as a secondary screen. This feature enhances productivity by providing additional screen real estate, making it easier to multitask and manage different applications. This is different to Universal Control.
Key Features of Sidecar
Extended Display
With Sidecar, users can utilise their iPad as an extended display for their Mac. This allows them to drag windows, apps, and documents from their Mac to the iPad seamlessly, expanding their workspace.
Mirroring Display
In addition to extending the display, Sidecar also supports mirroring. This means users can display the same content on both their Mac and iPad, making it ideal for presentations or demonstrations.
Apple Pencil Support
Sidecar takes advantage of the Apple Pencil, allowing users to draw, sketch, or annotate directly on the iPad while using applications on their Mac. This feature is especially beneficial for creative professionals, such as designers and artists, who can use the iPad as a digital drawing tablet.
Touch Bar
For Mac models that do not have a Touch Bar, Sidecar provides a virtual Touch Bar on the iPad. This allows users to access Touch Bar controls for compatible applications, enhancing their workflow.

To use Sidecar, ensure that both your Mac and iPad meet the following system requirements:
