If your Apple Watch won’t charge or is charging slowly, find out what to do.
When your device is charging, a lightning bolt will appear on the screen. If your Apple Watch requires charging, a red lightning bolt will appear on the screen. If your screen is blank or you see the charging cable icon and a red lightning bolt red lightning bolt on the screen, charge your watch for up to 30 minutes.

Best Ways To Charge Your Apple Watch
You can charge your Apple Watch by connecting it to a USB power adapter, to a computer, or to a powered USB hub. It’s best to use a high quality cable and to make sure the power source you’re using is able to charge your Watch.
Charging Using A Power Adapter
- Plug your USB charging cable into a USB power adapter,
- Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet,
- Plug your Watch into the USB charging cable and confirm your Apple Watch is charging.
Charging Using a Mac Or A Computer
- Plug your charging cable into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on your computer,
- Make sure the computer or Mac is powered on and not in a sleep mode,
- Don’t use the USB ports on your keyboard,
- Plug the USB charging cable into your Apple Watch and confirm your device is charging.
Charging Using a USB Hub, Dock, Or Wireless Charger
- Plug the power cable into a wall outlet and the USB hub or dock,
- Make sure the dock is on,
- Simply place your Apple Watch onto the charger,
- Confirm your device is charging.
If Your Apple Watch Is Charging Slowly
If your Apple Watch won’t charge or you see a message on your watch that charging with this accessory isn’t supported:
- Make sure that you plug the Magnetic Charging Cable or USB-C Magnetic Fast Charging Cable all the way into the USB Power Adapter, then make sure that you plug the adaptor all the way into a power outlet.
- Make sure that you’re using the Apple Magnetic Charging Cable or USB-C Magnetic Fast Charging Cable that came with your Apple Watch.
- Completely remove any plastic wrap from the sides of the charger.
- Make sure that the back of your Apple Watch and the magnetic charger are clean.
- If your Apple Watch still won’t charge, force-restart it. Press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown until you see the Apple logo.
- Try a different charging cable, and a different USB Power Adapter. If your Apple Watch is out of power, you might need to wait a few minutes for the green lightning bolt to appear after you start charging your device.
