Overnight, Apple announced new additions to its M2 chipset, adding M2 Pro and M2 Max, offering them in updated versions of the 14-inch MacBook Pro, 16-inch MacBook Pro and in the updated Mac Mini.
The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro that feature the latest M2 chip upgrade, promise battery life of up to 22 hours and add Wi-Fi 6E. The M2 Pro model will feature a 12-core CPU, up to 19-core GPU and up to 32GB of unified memory, while the M2 Max will feature a 38-core GPU and up to 96GB of unified memory with double the memory bandwidth.
Updated MacBook Pro Featuring M2 Chips Released
Apple says the M2 Pro chip in MacBook Pro is up to 40% faster than the previous M1 Pro in Photoshop image processing, and that the M2 Max MacBook Pro can do effects rendering in Cinema 4D and colour grading in DaVinci Resolve up to 30% faster than the M1 Max.
The updated Mac Mini was also updated to the M2 chip with an option to upgrade to an M2 Pro chip. The Mac Mini with M2 version offers Photoshop performance that can be up to 50% faster than the M1 version, and 2.4x faster in transcoding in Final Cut Pro. The M2 Pro version of the Mac Mini can be up to 4.2x faster than the M1 Mac Mini in Final Cut Pro.
