New Multi-Device Apple Protection Plan

Apple introduces AppleCare One

Apple has introduced a significant overhaul of its extended warranty offering with the launch of AppleCare One, a new subscription service that enables users to protect multiple Apple devices under one streamlined plan. This development reflects Apple’s shift towards flexibility and service consolidation, aiming to simplify the way individuals and businesses manage the care and support of their Apple products.

What Is AppleCare One?

AppleCare One is a monthly subscription plan that covers up to three Apple devices for US $19.99 per month, with the option to add additional devices for $5.99 each. This includes a broad range of Apple hardware, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, Apple Vision Pro, and more. All tied to a single Apple ID. Devices remain covered regardless of where they were purchased, provided they pass a diagnostics test.

Unlike AppleCare+, which offers coverage on a per-device basis, AppleCare One unifies protection under a single subscription. This marks the first time Apple has offered a device-agnostic support model, reducing the administrative overhead of managing multiple AppleCare+ contracts.

What It Covers

AppleCare One includes all the benefits of AppleCare+, including:

  • Unlimited accidental damage protection
  • Battery service for devices that fall below 80% capacity
  • 24/7 priority support via chat, phone, or in-store appointments
  • Theft and loss coverage, now extended beyond iPhones to include iPad and Apple Watch as part of the base plan

Customers also benefit from a simplified claim process and access to genuine Apple parts and certified repairs from either Apple directly or authorised service providers.

Eligibility & Device Flexibility

A key change with AppleCare One is the extension of eligibility to devices up to four years old. For the first time, users can enrol legacy devices into Apple’s support plan provided they meet basic diagnostics. This contrasts with the 60-day post-purchase limit for standard AppleCare+ enrolment.

In addition, users can add or remove devices at any time. If a device is sold or traded in, a new one can be enrolled immediately without interrupting the plan or requiring reactivation. This modular approach supports a more dynamic lifecycle for devices, especially in business environments where fleet changes are routine.

Headphones, including AirPods, are also covered under AppleCare One but with a reduced term of one year. This is likely due to the lower repair complexity and shorter product lifespan of audio accessories.

Device Management Improvements

AppleCare One is tied to the user’s Apple ID. That means any eligible device signed in with the same Apple ID can be added or removed from the plan through a dedicated dashboard. This design benefits users who frequently upgrade devices or who manage multiple products across personal and professional use.

Importantly, Apple has clarified that Family Sharing is not currently supported. All devices must belong to the same Apple ID for inclusion. This limitation may be removed in future versions of the plan as Apple evolves its user management model.

Business & Power User Benefits

AppleCare One is particularly useful for small businesses, professionals, and families with multiple Apple devices. Instead of managing 3 – 6 separate warranties, one consolidated plan reduces both cost and friction. Apple’s decision to allow older devices in the plan also means companies won’t be penalised for not having a uniform upgrade cycle.

For consultants, startups, or creatives juggling devices across roles, this offering removes ambiguity and risk. Device swaps, losses, and support needs are streamlined under one contract, enhancing operational clarity.

Availability

AppleCare One launched in the United States in July 2025. Global rollout is expected in phases, though Apple has not provided specific dates for Australia or other international markets.

Australian customers should note that AppleCare+ remains the only available plan as of now. However, the launch of AppleCare One is likely to reach the local market once legal and service infrastructure is aligned with Apple’s global support standards.

Limitations

While AppleCare One represents a significant improvement, it does come with a few limitations:

  • Only devices on the same Apple ID can be enrolled
  • Family Sharing is not yet supported
  • Headphones have a one-year coverage limit
  • Only available in the US at launch

Additionally, customers will still need to pay standard service fees for accidental damage repairs. For example, a screen replacement on an iPhone may still cost up to US $29, even under AppleCare One.
