The First Apple Store In Australia
The first retail Apple Store in Australia opened in June 2008 on George Street in Sydney, New South Wales. This marked a significant milestone as Apple expanded its direct retail presence in Oceania. The store set the standard for what customers could expect from a physical Apple Store in terms of show space, product launch and educational sessions to help customers get more from their Apple products.
The Apple Store Sydney had more than 80 Macs and 60 iPods available for customers to experience hands-on, as well as a large range of third party products. The store also employed more than 125 staff.
The Latest Apple Store
The latest Apple Store opened in Australia is located at Westfield Miranda in Sydney. This store opened on July 25, 2015 and is the last current Apple Store opened in Australia.
Growth & Expansion
Since that opening, the number of Apple Retail Stores in Australia has grown to 22. These stores are located across major cities and in key locations. There are 9 stores in New South Wales, 4 in Queensland, 5 in Victoria, 1 in South Australia, 2 in Western Australia and 1 in the Australian Capital Territory.
Currently there are no stores in the Northern Territory or Tasmania due to the low population density and demand in these areas.
